THE CAMP STARTED OUT AS A

BOY SCOUT CAMP AND WAS USED FOR THIS UNTIL THE EARLY 1950'S

THEY SOLD IT TO A CHURCH GROUP WHO HAS OWNED IT EVER SINCE.

WE HAD A CLUB HUNT THERE LAST YEAR AND WE FOUND ALOT OF SILVER COINS, WHEATIES, RELICS AND JEWELRY.

THERE IS SO MUCH MORE TO BE FOUND AT

CAMP MANITOU

THAT WE JUST HAVE TO GO AGAIN.

CAMP MANITOU HAS 50 PLUS ACRES OF PROPERTY WE CAN DETECT ON.

THE SITE IS ONLY 12 MILES FROM OUR OFFICE 

CAMP MANITOU CONSISTS OF OLD LOG CABINS

 WERE THE BOY SCOUTS AND OTHERS STAY,RV CAMPSITES, WOODS, FIELDS AND BEACHES WITH OVER 50 ACRES OF PROPERTY FOR US TO ENJOY.

THEY STILL HOLD BAND CAMPS, FOOTBALL CAMPS, CHURCH CAMPS, WEDDINGS, AND ALL KINDS OF THINGS EVERY YEAR.

IT IS GOING TO BE A FUN HUNT!

ALSO:

YOU CAN STAY AT ONE OF THE

RUSTIC CABINS FOR A SMALL FEE!

FAMILIES ARE WELCOME

EVEN IF YOU DO NOT METAL DETECT!

HERE IS SOME OF THE FINDS FROM THE MAY 10TH HUNT FROM JUST A COUPLE OF THE HUNTERS AT CAMP MANITOU! 

JACK BARNES FINDING THE BOOTY!

JACK WAS SWINGING A MINELAB XTERRA 70.

We had one hunter that never found a silver coin since he started hunting earlier last year. I told him he will get his first silver coin if he went to the hunt and boy did he. He found a 1904 Barber Quarter!

Christian Camp

Who Uses Camp Freidenswald?

• Participants in planned programs - Nearly 15,000 people participate in a variety of program retreats each year, including events for youth, young adults, families and senior citizens.
  
• Participants in the Outdoor Education program - We served nearly 40 public or private schools in 2003, offering nature instruction for 2^nd - 6^th graders.
  
• Families, schools, churches and other organizations who utilize the Retreat Centers and Main Camp - nearly 8,000 individuals use Camp Friedenswald facilities yearly as part of a rental group alone.

• Camp Friedenswald is:

• Supported by the Central District Conference of Mennonite Church USA. We began our first summer of camping in 1951.

• With over 300+ acres of property for all of us to enjoy.

• The Camp is on the shores of Shavehead Lake for all you water metal detectorist.

 Jake and Jamie Kudary Relic Hunting with a Whites MXT Metal Detector at an old foundation that has been long forgotten, but not by an experienced relic hunter! With a little research you too can find lost treasures from down under.

Axe Head below found by Tim Swenor at this site. It was over 12" deep!
